1. What is coliform?

E.coli, a particular coliform bacteria, is a threat to our water supply. We take great lengths to assure the safest drinking water possible.

You can assist with our ongoing water quality efforts by volunteering your home as a sampling site.

3. Who qualifies as a sampling site candidate?

Anyone with unsoftened or unfiltered water qualifies. Even if you have soft water, in most homes the kitchen cold water is exempt from the softener system.

4. What is involved?

Approximately once every 3 months, a city representative will call your home to arrange a time to collect a sample. Samples are usually taken on Wednesday mornings.

5. How much does this cost?

Nothing. There is no charge to the homeowner for this service.

6. Will I know the results?

Coliform analysis is either not detected, or it is positive. Results are mailed to the utility from the lab. If a positive coliform is present, a retest of the same sampling site must be taken. We also test for free and residual chlorine, on site, so those results are immediate.
